This morning at the bright hour of 7:30-- there was alot of connecting, talking and developing some new contacts and nurturing others- all with people like myself who graduated from Washington University in St. Louis.
Part of a great series, that the WU Club of New York has started to develop is having morning meetings with a line up of speakers and I was lucky to be the one today.
I am pictured with my friend and Executive Director of Development--Mike Worley who really started the whole connection when we met several years ago. ( This is also a man who is a marathon runner and has never missed a Kentucky Derby!)
Our program co-coordinator, pictured to the left in the middle is Wyeth Killip who is also speaking next month on "Harnessing Social Media to Build Your Professional Brand"- He is the Sales Advisor for Criteria for Success; www.criteriaforsuccess.com and wonderful to work with and pictured to the far right is our host for the meeting today, Howard Berkower of McCarter&English,Attorneys at Law www.mccarter.com who was great!
It was a terrific morning- alot of 'small world' connections and there was alot of energy in the room.
As I went through my 5 Best Practices for staying in touch with your networks, I was able to do my follow up quickly after the meeting which has already resulted in some interesting opportunities and most importantly to help some other people-- (the real truth in great relationship building)
So-- get involved with your own college alumni and take the opportunity to really learn from the great people who also attended your school. You start off with a common interest automatically!

Mike Worley builds world class relationships and is a fantastic fundraiser. He is a great friend to so many people. Your short blog about this amazing program captures Worley perfectly. Great post.
